Recycled Glass Whale Pendant – Choose your colour – Adjustable Long Cord

Initially available only as a kickstarter, my recycled range has now landed here on my website Choose your whale! A handmade pendant in sterling silver featuring one of my glass whale beads, sculpted in hot glass, they are all individually made to order, so each one is slightly different. You can add a sterling silver chain, this will mean you don’t get a cord colour choice If you want just a whale necklace that isn’t a pendant, they’re available here The whole necklace is adjustable from approximately 18″ – 28″ with a sliding knot, whale approx 42 x 20mm, but they vary as each is individually made. Creating this range is about working with rather than against some of the unique challenges presented by bottle glass, for one thing, you cannot mix the colours! These pieces have a beautiful seaglass style due to their matte finish (also available shiny), as the bottle glass they are made from are some of the most common colours of seaglass you’ll find on most beaches. The recycled glass I use comes from gin, beer and wine bottles, jam jars, marmite jars, champagne and prosecco bottles. Occasionally I’ll use perfume bottles, or other broken coloured glass that would otherwise go in the bin or recycling. Why no red, pink or purple? These colours are much more expensive to produce in glass, so commercially produced bottles with these colours are usually painted or have a plastic sleeve, neither of which would withstand the heating process I use to make glass beads. Please note, that due to the recycled nature of this glass, there may be small inclusions, bubbles and colour variations, each one is unique! Some photos may show a group, price is for one necklace. I make my glass beads and marbles one by one using soda lime glass in my Devon studio, they are cooled very slowly in my digitally controlled kiln in a process called annealing for strength and durability, though please note, this product is made from glass, it is not designed for children, and care should be taken whilst handling to avoid dropping it.
